About Montalcino

Brunello di Montalcino is a red wine produced in Tuscany, Italy. Brunello is a clone of the Sangiovese grape and has a slightly brownish tone. Montalcino is located on a hill in southern Tuscany and is home to the Brunello grape.

Brunello di Montalcino is classified as DOCG (Controlled and Guaranteed Origin) which is the highest quality class for wines in Italy. In addition to Brunello di Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino is also produced, which is a simpler red wine classified as DOC (Controlled Origin).

Brunello wines are powerful with a lot of flavour. They can usually be aged.

The map shows the most famous producers in the area such as Casanova di Neri, Il Poggione, Biondi-Santi, Poggio Antico, Talenti, Poggio di Sotto and Fornace.
